When John Mayer was spotted vacationing in Mexico last week, many questioned his girlfriend-less trip. Now it looks like we have our explanation: Mayer and Aniston recently called it quits.

Although things appeared to be going well since their April debut, sources tell People the two were simply on different tracks. “They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now.”

The Daily Mirror adds that it was the 30-year-old singer who initiated the break-up. “John took the decision to end things as he felt he just wasn’t ready for the level of commitment that Jennifer deserved,” claims a source. (I guess he really didn’t cherish their love.)

Is there a chance of a reunion? Possibly. Aniston and Mayer are reportedly still in contact. And given Mayer’s prolonged ending with Jessica Simpson (somewhere, she’s laughing right now), I wouldn’t be surprised to see them eating privately again soon.
