UPDATE: The Daily Mirror has agreed to pay $30,000 in libel damages over the false story.

Note to actors: Always know where your cameras are.

According to a British newspaper, American star Josh Hartnett recently became the subject of the closed-circuit spotlight.

During his stay at the Soho, the 30 Days of Night actor reportedly “entertained” a group of employees when he brought a mystery woman back to his hotel. The couple somehow managed to miss Hartnett’s suite altogether and opted to take their private matters into the library. Although the curtains were closed, the two were left fully exposed to the room’s cameras.

“This means their every spit and cough was recorded, and cringing hotel workers saw all of Josh’s X-rated moves,” said the Daily Mirror source.

Fortunately for the 30-year-old, the hotel’s management didn’t make a scene and chose to speak to him discreetly.

“After the event, someone had a quiet word in Josh’s ear and he was asked to take his personal business elsewhere in future. Josh took it on the chin and didn’t kick up a fuss. He’s been as good as gold since,” the tipster added.

Sadly, I think that may be one of the rare Hartnett films that actually sounds interesting.
