How Does Scientology Deal with Death?

Travolta Family

John Travolta, who , is a Scientologist - as are many who orbit the planet called Hollywood. Like any religion, there are special customs to be observed when a member of the faith passes into the great beyond.

...What are they?

At a typical Scientology funeral, the one being honored is directly addressed “as a spiritual being, and is meant to acknowledge the life they lived and their right to move on,” according to spokesman Tommy Davis.

Scientology funeral services are generally kept simple and often include readings from the works of science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. But there may or may not be a coffin present, as the body is not the focus for subscribers to the Scientology faith. They believe in thetans, or energy, that is attached to the body. When the body dies, the thetan moves on to a new host. Scientologists do not believe in Heaven or a Nirvana-type place where the departed dwell in eternity, but rather that one’s life-force (thetan) will be recycled again and again.

Like many other European governments, the French authorities view Scientology - founded in the US in 1954 by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard - as a dangerous cult.

Meanwhile, Fox News in the US is reporting Cruise has more converts to add to his growing list of sign-ups - his own children with Nicole Kidman.

Isabella, 12, and Connor, 10, live with the 43-year-old actor in Beverly Hills where they are being home-schooled by his Scientologist sisters, reports say.

LMAO!  CULT!  :D

GOOD. That’s all I have to say about that.

Psychotic religious fanatics…

No it’s not good.  No one should be banned because of their religion. People that ban others because of their religion are just as bad as though religious fanatics.

Don’t worry, you need like $100K to be a scientologist…

Ohhhhhh, I could get into some debate on this one, hehe. Let’s move this to the Debate Board!!!!!!!

Tom Cruise is weird…

That’s an understatement~

if i could have it my way all religion would be banned.
nice work, france. i have another reason to respect you.

I sort of agree with matmag. Heh.  I just don’t feel one religion should be singled out from the others because the people in power/majority think it’s weird, wrong, whatever.

While having no religion would make the world a lot better, at least in my opinion.  If I had the power to I would never make it illegal, because people should be free to believe in whatever they want.  As long as they leave me alone about it, and it doesn’t include murdering people and eating their brains.

i cannot BELIEVE that he is inducting his children (10, 12) into this cult. i feel the same way about any religion. the children should be able to choose their own religion, if any, and not be brainwashed into the religion that their parent/s want
