Although most royal watchers believe Prince William is heading down the road to marriage, his younger brother has just taken one large step back. After 5 years with Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry is once again a single man.

The break-up comes just weeks after the two vacationed together in Mauritius. Friends were reportedly made aware of the split when Chelsy, of all things, changed her relationship status in Facebook. (That’s the quick way to go about it.

The disappointing news does not really come as a surprise to those who knew the couple. Harry and Chelsy, 23, had experienced their shares of ups and downs yet somehow managed to stay together. Unfortunately, this separation appears to be a bit more permanent. “It is true: they have parted. It’s amicable but the relationship has run its course,” a senior royal insider told The Sunday Telegraph.

Differing career goals is one major factor in their decision. Harry, 24, was promoted to lieutenant last year is aiming to become an attack helicopter pilot. That includes an intensive 14-month training program with the Army Air Corps. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe-born law student is currently wrapping up her last year at the University of Leeds.

But as we’ve learned, reunions can happen. (Prince William and his long-time girlfriend, Kate Middleton, even broke up for a short period last year.) So let’s not be quick to put on our glass slippers, shall we?
