Ringwald Takes on New Role: Mother of Twins
Molly Ringwald recently announced to People that she and husband Panio Gianopoulos are expecting twins, due to be born in August.
Ringwald, 40, first came to fame as the pretty teen in a few iconic John Hughes films before moving to France to continue her movie career there. The red-headed actress recently came to the attention of a whole new audience via The Secret Life of the American Teenager, in which Ringwald plays mom Anne Juergens. Currently, the actress has a daughter, Mathila Ereni, 5.

Ringwald’s pregnancy will become part of the storyline, which focuses on the teen pregnancy of Amy Juergens (played by Shailene Woodley). Ringwald’s announcement has caused a fair amount of excitement for the show. “Molly’s first child is so gorgeous!” cried Woodley. “Whenever she brings Mathilda to the set, everybody’s happy.” Ringwald’s character Anne has already struggled through a fair amount of personal problems on the show. She’s divorcing her husband, dealing with her 15-year-old daughter’s shocking pregnancy and going back to work for the first time in many years. Now, it seems, the plot thickens.
