Tom Cruise Riled by Dr. Drew

Dr. Drew Pinsky, star of Celebrity Rehab and Love Line, has never been afraid to give a diagnosis. Vocal in his opinions but always clinical in his delivery, Drew has charmed many with his obvious caring nature - though it’s often couched in logic.
Even when you’re a celebrated man of medicine, you have to be careful when you talk Tom Cruise. Dr. Drew recently mentioned the actor’s name. Let the media back-and-forth war begin!
This all has stemmed from an interview with Pinsky which appears in Playboy magazine. Dr. Drew made this comment: “A lot of people in the public eye who behave strangely have mental illness we can learn from, and much of it is based on childhood trauma, without a doubt.” He continued: “Take a guy like Tom Cruise. Why would somebody be drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology? To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness, and suggests serious neglect in childhood - maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect.” The tenor of the comments reflects Drew’s usual tone.
Read More Bert Fields, an attorney for Cruise, was quick to frame a retort. “This unqualified television performer who is obviously just looking for notoriety is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them,” was the comment given to the New York Post by Fields. Anyone who has watched a single episode of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew or listened to Love Line is acquainted with Pinsky’s training and education, both of which are extensive. The doctor’s reps have already offered a very smooth reply, saying Drew does apologize. “Although Mr. Fields’s intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr. Drew, under no circumstances is Dr. Drew making a blanket diagnosis about Scientology nor Mr. Cruise, whom he does not know. Dr. Drew was simply using Mr. Cruise as an example of someone who is recognizable to help the public understand.” The rep finished with, “Dr. Drew meant him no harm.”

I heard about this! Those Scientologists are so crazy. *Shakes head* Always looking for a chance to get noticed in the spotlight and never taking the high road. If that doesn’t add to their creepiness, I don’t know what else does. XD
While the implication is there, he didn’t come out and call Cruise batshit crazy; he called someone like Cruise crazy. And, it’s certainly not a prognosis or diagnosis. It seems like an observation to me…evident by prefacing the sentence with “To me”. Had he said, “In my professional opinion, Cruise has a clear case of x and I would reccommend y treatment” ... but he basically said, “In my experience, behaviour like his is likely attributed to this sort of trauma”.
Cruise’s scumbag attorney also said, “The last time we heard garbage like this was from Joseph Goebbels.” (Goebbels was a Nazi propagandist.)
What better way to prove one’s sanity than by calling a shrink a nazi?
By the way, Cruise had admitted in an interview that he was abused and neglected by his father as a child.
Wow… Take that, you crazy Scientologists! Dr. Drew was right!
Scientology with it’s super secretive locations, secret memberships, and secretive belief systems are using a kook like Cruise have tried to assimilate unsuccessfully into the mainstream. Curious behavior and serious tantrums whenever any doubts are cast about the forthright nature of this cultish grouping of peoples only reinforces the prevaling feelings that these are people in need, looking for something to believe in. Finding fault with what Dr. Drew Pinsky said is only the tip of the iceberg proving how seriously fearful they are of any dissent whatsoever. Cruise is just an actor and nothing more. He thinks he has some sort of power over people while he wears shoe lifts and dyes his hair trying to make himself look bigger, stronger, and younger always. Sad but true. Tom the spokesman is just a pimplefaced man unable to keep his many previous marriages intact. Let’s see….....there was a minimum of 3 marriages that went kablooey all the while this great religion scientology was guiding his life. Sound like something that would interest you? Me neither. He’s a kook, acts crazy and is not someone I would want to know or have a meal with. He’s nuttier than my Aunt Megs pecan pies.

A Spears fan wrote, “I don’t like you or your stinking, horrible, abusive report! ... I, however, love Britney.” Another fan wrote, “Britney Spears is a legend, a great performer. http://how-much-does-britney-spears-weigh.com She is our idol and nothing you say about that concert will change that. It still hurts to think you didn’t see how many people she touched that night. ... What I saw was hard work and determination, great dance moves, catchy lyrics, and positive songs”
