I don’t even think this is a scenario the best screenwriters could have ever imagined.

This past weekend, the Studio City area of Los Angeles was the location for quite an unusual gathering.  On Saturday, pop star Britney Spears had dinner with....Mel Gibson.  The stars - who both have ties to the Malibu area - dined amongst a larger group.

As for why the two were meeting, TMZ reports that their personal troubles may have given something to bond over.  Sources also claim that this is not the first time they’ve chatted.  The actor and his family apparently reached out to the troubled singer during her low points.  (Apparently they understand how fame can drive you to speak in random British accents or spit out anti-Semitic remarks.)

While it’s not known what the two were talking about on this particular occasion, we can report a bit of a good news:  Britney wasn’t driving.  The bad news?  She didn’t bother dressing up for the occasion. (She was still wearing those darn boots!)
