Now that Zac Efron has wiped his hands clean of the High School Musical franchise, the 21-year-old has moved on to Phase 2 of his career: Proving to everyone that he’s a man.

In the recent issue of Elle, Zac made sure his fans knew he advocated safe sex. Now Vanessa Hudgens’ beau is getting down and dirty with another woman.

For the April issue of Interview magazine, Efron was forced to pose with a nude model (Edita Vileviciute). In his conversation with director Gus Van Sant (his interviewer), Zac did his best to sound casual about the steamy shoot. “I think it went pretty cool. There was, like, a giant sandbox in the middle of a studio, and then I just got to roll around in the dirt for a couple of hours. I got pretty dirty by the end of it, so that was fun. It was definitely different from anything I had ever done before.”

At least in front of the cameras, he means.
