The New Edition singer was stopped by police in Los Angeles this afternoon for allegedly driving while talking on his phone and then failed a sobriety test, but it is unclear what substance officers believe the troubled star had taken before getting behind the wheel.

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly put herself under house arrest.
The actress is two weeks from the end of her probation period - which is connected to her 2007 arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) - and has made the decision to stay at home until it is over, so there is absolutely no chance she can get into any trouble, according to TMZ.com.
The news comes after the Mean Girls actress was accused of hitting the manager of a Hollywood nightclub with her black Porsche last Thursday, a claim she strongly denied.
After the incident friends are said to have begged the 25-year-old star to stay at home until March 29, when her probation is due to end. Until that time Lindsay - who has been in jail and rehab on several occasions since the start of her legal troubles five years ago - has now agreed only to leave home to complete community service at the Los Angeles County morgue.
Michael Madsen was arrested following a row with his son.
The Kill Bill actor was apprehended by officers at his Malibu home on Friday and taken into custody on felony charges of child endangerment with cruelty to a child, but was released on Saturday morning after posting $100,000 bail.
It is believed a family member called emergency services to the mansion Michael shares with wife Deanna and their three sons Hudson, 17, Calvin, 15, and seven-year-old Luke, though it is unclear which of the actor's kids was involved in the fracas.
"He found his son smoking pot and they got into an argument when he tried to take it away. It's a family matter and Michael asks that his family's privacy be respected," said Michael's lawyer Perry Wander.
Whitney Houston's death was reportedly caused by prescription drugs and alcohol.
An autopsy on the 48-year-old singer - who was found dead in the bath of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday - has been completed and Los Angeles County Coroner officials have told her relatives that she did not drown.
Sources told TMZ.com that the coroner did not find enough water in Whitney's lungs to suggest she died in the bath, but they believe her passing was a result of the combination of alcohol, Xanax and other prescription drugs she had taken. It is believed that Whitney's official cause of death will not be released for some time to allow police to complete investigations.
"The Beverly Hills Police Department has requested the Coroner's Office put the results on a 'security hold,' because it could hamper their ongoing investigation," a source told RadarOnline.com.
Whitney's mother reportedly plans to have the singer's body flown back to Atlanta tomorrow now the autopsy is complete.
Lindsay Lohan was praised by the judge during her court hearing on Wednesday.
The actress - who has been working at the Los Angeles County Morgue as part of her sentence for breaking her probation in relation to a 2007 DUI (driving under the influence) case - received a positive report from Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who had been in touch with the morgue and probation department.
"I'm pleased to say she's done it all. Just keep doing what you're doing, you appear to be doing it well. The probation officer has written a favorable report, as has the volunteer center," Sautner told her.
Lindsay has certainly been adhering to the terms of her probation and completed the last month's carefully parsed-out requirements, which include the completion of 12 more days of community service at the morgue, four psychotherapy sessions and meeting with her probation officer. At the start of the hearing, Sautner announced Lindsay's next court date would be postponed one week - to February 22 - because the court is busy on February 17.
Lindsay Lohan is believed to have completed her court-ordered community service.
The troubled actress - who was working at the Los Angeles County Morgue as part of her sentence for breaking her probation in relation to a 2007 DUI (driving under the influence) case - is also said to have finished the mandated psychotherapy requirements ahead of schedule. "Lindsay has already completed her community service and therapy requirements," a source said.
In addition to serving four-and-a-half hours of a 30-day sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, last month, the 25-year-old star was ordered by Superior Court judge Stephanie Sautner to undergo psychotherapy sessions and serve 423 hours at the county morgue by March 29, 2012. We never comment on Lindsay's community service progress. Suffice it to say she is being diligent and complying with all court-mandated requirements," a representative for Lindsay said.
Charlie Sheen is planning to look after his twin sons full-time following the arrest of his ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
The former Two and a Half Men actor currently shares custody of two-year-olds Bob and Max with the reality TV star, but is set to take charge of the boys, along with Brooke's parents, as they are concerned about the welfare of the boys.
Charlie, 46, has just returned from a trip to Colombia and will start looking after Bob and Max once they return with Brooke to California from a visit to Aspen, Colorado, where she arrested on Friday night. Charlie and her parents want her to enter rehab to get help for her troubles while they care for the boys. However, Brooke - who could face up to six years in jail after being charged with assault and intent to distribute drugs - is refusing treatment as she doesn't want to be away from her children.
But friends say Brooke needs to be in rehab for "at least nine months" and has reportedly been told spending anything less inside a treatment facility would be a "total waste."
Johnny Depp is wanted for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) regarding an alleged incident involving his bodyguards and a disabled woman.
The Rum Diary actor attended an Iggy Pop concert at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles last Thursday and 52-year-old Robyn Ecker alleges his minders grabbed her wrists and wrestled her to the ground after she danced too close to his table in the VIP section of the venue.
Following the incident, Robyn - who paid $600 each for the tickets as a birthday present for her husband - went to hospital to check she hadn't been badly injured, and then filed a complaint with the LAPD. Officers are now trying to get in touch with Johnny and his bodyguards in order to interview them. According to TMZ.com, Robyn's assistant confirmed she and her party had been drinking during the evening, while a law enforcement source claimed she was drunk when she made her complaint.
Lindsay Lohan wants to be remembered for her talent, not her problems. The troubled actress - who has had several stints in rehab and a string of legal problems, most recently serving 35 days house arrest after breaching probation by stealing a necklace - insists she doesn't want to be a "celebrity" and believes people no longer view her as a "real person."
"People in their mind have created who I am and act as if there is no real person inside of me. Just like Marilyn. Marilyn never wanted to be just a celebrity. Neither do I. I had always thought that movie stars were in films that would last forever in your mind. But now the films don't. I don't want to be remembered as someone who just wanted to be photographed, who goes out at night, and gets in trouble. Heath Ledger once said to me, 'It's built you up to knock you down' and that's all it is. Marilyn said she had no foundation. But she said she was really working on it. I've been trying to do the same thing. I believe in myself and I'm a good actress," she said, comparing herself to late screen icon Marilyn Monroe.
Lindsay, 25, says she has always identified with Marilyn - who died in 1962 at the age of 36 - and says the blonde beauty inspired her to always want to appear strong and in control.
