Kevin Smith

Warning to companies everywhere: Don’t ever piss off popular celebrities with a Smodcast and a Twitter account.

According to director Kevin Smith (Clerks), he was asked to get off a flight from Oakland to Burbank yesterday because he was deemed too big to fit into his single seat. This Southwest Airlines ejection has since turned into a PR disaster for the low-cost airline.

Despite his insistence that he fit comfortably in his space (he says he “fit between the arm rests & was able to buckle his seat belt w/o an extender”), Smith stated through his active Twitter account that he was told that he “wasn’t going to be allowed to sit there” because he was “a safety risk.”

Ashley Greene in her casual fare had a “mini-breakdown” over the scrutiny her wardrobe received.

The 22-year-old actress admits she still feels uneasy that fans of the - in which she plays Alice Cullen - view her as a role model but refuses to put on an act to please other people.

“There was a moment in time where I was kind of having this mini-breakdown because it was all very new, and it was all being thrown at me really quickly, and I was going, ‘Why are people reporting on this? Why do people care what I’m wearing or what I’m eating, and why are people looking down on me because I’m not wearing high heels?’ That’s the downside to being in the public eye. When girls come up and say, ‘You’re my role model,’ it’s really flattering, but it’s also really scary because I’m not perfect and I’m going to make mistakes. I’ve just decided that I have to continue to live my life and do what I do. Hopefully, people love me because of who I am, not who I pretend to be.”

The actress was working as a waitress when she landed the role and is still amazed at how quickly her life changed because she hasn’t yet had time to reflect on her success.

Frances Bean and Courtney Love during better timesAlthough Courtney Love initially appeared to be tight-lipped when the news broke that she lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, the troubled musician has now broken her silence.

No stranger to blasting ludicrous remarks on Facebook, Love used the social networking site to spew hateful thoughts about her 17 year-old daughter, whose father was the late Kurt Cobain.

“I hate to sound cold but any kid of mine who pulls this s**t has lost her position… she was deceptive, she lied and she’s lying to herself… My daughter is not always honest. The fact is fbc [Frances Bean Cobain] is deluded.  She thinks she has all this money. The point is I have all the money she has. Frances is clearly deluded that she can buy her grandmother a small house in la [Los Angeles]. I’d love to see how that works. They’ll incubate her [sic] til shes 18 and then have her sign all the [sic] indnemofications.”

This is not the first time Love has lost custody of Frances Bean; Love’s lawyers assure that she did not have a drug relapse and the matter was simply Frances Bean’s decision to live with her grandparents over her mother.

In the end, however, Love ends her internet tirade with words that somewhat resemble that of a woman showing motherly care (despite what she had said previously).

Having trouble remembering the pop culture events of the past year? Then here’s a catchy recap for you.

Although clips related to the Heenes, the Gosselins, Speidi and Nadya Suleman can be quite nauseating, the autotuned score - with samples from , Lady Gaga and Christian Bale - at least makes this 2009 review palatable.

Alec BaldwinThe Drama King is back. Alec Baldwin has recently revealed that he will be leaving Hollywood when his contract expires in 2012. It seems the Mayans were right - the world really is coming to an end.

“I don’t have any interest in acting anymore,” Baldwin explained. “Moves are part of my past. It’s been 30 years. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else.” Like a stint on , an NBC summer reality series two of his brothers participated in last season.

It gets even weirder from there. “I consider my entire movie career a complete failure,” added. So, he also saw The Marrying Man. “I’ll tell you why. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that.” Ah, but Beetlejuice will live on in pop culture for ever.

So, the most successful Baldwin brother says he’s through. Anyone care?

Courtney LoveCourtney Love Cobain’s on , and if you ever check out her Wall you’re going to see a lot of weird $***. Some of her recent writings are so off-the-wall, the social networking site might need to come up with more upgrades. It all began with a rant on actor and ex-boyfriend Edward Norton, with whom she called it quits around a decade ago.

Love was ranting about “my will” when she wrote “needs altering as it has Edward in it and Norton doesn’t have a CLUE how evil his own BM is he wont (expletive deleted) a future Senator/Film Actor but hell purposefully refinance Kim Cobains Property i bought her cash outright…” It goes on from there, getting stranger and stranger until it winds down with “oh yeah Norton just LOST 300k.”

But that’s even the really (expletive deleted) crazy part. Courtney then goes on to talk about .

Ashlee Simspon on the cover of Women's HealthIn a recent interview, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz shot back at the media for commenting on her sister’s weight.

“My sister has an incredible body. I feel sorry for anyone who would judge her, because she’s one sexy lady. It’s disgusting that people would say those things.”

Ashlee, who landed the cover of this month’s Women’s Health magazine, also added that she cannot wait to gain the pounds: “There’s gonna be a time when I’m way curvier, and that’ll be sexy too. What defines sexy is not someone’s weight. Personally I like curves. ... I wanna look good [for me]. I wanna feel good.”

The weighty backlash from Ashlee comes shortly after Jessica wrote an angry post on her Twitter regarding her sister’s swift departure from her show Melrose Place.

Those Simpson sisters sure do know how to get each others’ backs.

Megan Fox on the cover of the New York TimesTransformers starlet Megan Fox has figured out why women hate her.

“Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18. The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore. The instinct among girls is to attack the jugular.”

Blanket statements—gotta love ‘em! Freely speaking of others, Fox fails to realize that her weapon of choice is her venomous words; has she ever thought that perhaps people don’t like her because of how she has painted her own picture?

For one, she’s said that she comes close to killing that boyfriend she supposedly loves. Secondly, how can any woman believe that Fox thinks she’s a hippo when she has sex?

Either way, someone ought to hire a filter of some sort for her mouth. On second thought, we wouldn’t have all of this Megan Fox entertainment without her loquaciousness (sans the horrid acting).

Russell Brand, recovering internet addictAfter having beaten his polygamy tendencies, comedian Russell Brand is now recovering over his obsession with Googling himself.

The Get Him to The Greek actor, who admits he has an addictive personality and has previously beaten heroin addiction, said he eventually gave up typing his name into the internet, as he only saw negative things written about himself.

“It’s the most unrewarding, pointless activity, Googling yourself. I’m doing a lot better. It’s like picking a scab. I have gone a few weeks without looking at it and it divorces you from the slurry of casual vindictiveness.”

He also admitted he toned down his performance as host of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), after his appearance last year - during which he referred to then-US president George W. Bush as a “retarded cowboy fella” - caused such an uproar.

“Last year at the VMAs there were death threats, so obviously this year it was deliberately designed not to cause anyone any bother, but be funny and confident. There was a very deliberate removal of self-destruction. I didn’t take the risks I’ve taken in the past.”
