Miley Cyrus is showing off too much skin in pictures and making viral YouTube videos. Disney darling Vanessa Hudgens weathered scandal for sending pics to another young star. Lindsay Lohan fell so far from grace so fast we still can’t find her career, and let’s not even start talking about the deterioration of Britney Spears.
What’s wrong with young Hollywood?
Many of them appear on the scene as cute kids, all smiles and freckles and age-appropriate movie roles. But as the years pass and adolescence sets in, they’re suddenly seen in clubs, car crashes and mug shots - even before they can legally vote in some cases. When kids who aren’t famous get into trouble, it’s easy to say it’s the fault of the parents or that society puts too much pressure on them - maybe it’s some flaw in the educational system. When kids who are in the spotlight get into trouble, it’s media fodder.
And it’s almost guaranteed to make the spotlight shine on them just a little bit brighter.

Winehouse Still Smoking Despite Hospitalization

Although Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch, mistakenly claimed his daughter had emphysema, the singer is not exactly out of the woods.
In an attempt to clear up the erroneous report, reps clarified the 24-year-old’s health status. While Amy hasn’t yet been diagnosed with the irreversible lung disease, she does have “scarring of the lungs which could lead to emphysema.” According to spin doctor Chris Goodman, “If she keeps doing the wrong things, then it could lead to it. If she does the right things, it won’t.”
Unfortunately, no amount of scarring could overcome Amy’s strong penchant for inhaling. During a brief release from the hospital yesterday (she’s been there since fainting last Monday), Winehouse was snapped by the paparazzi...with a cigarette in her mouth. Maybe she was just saying one last goodbye to the cigs? Maybe?

Amy Winehouse Diagnosed with Emphysema

UPDATE: Despite what Amy’s father told the media, the singer’s rep denies Winehouse has emphysema. She supposedly has a “scarring of the lungs which could lead to emphysema.”
After years of unhealthy living, it’s been determined that singer Amy Winehouse has the early stages of emphysema. This diagnosis was made after the 24-year-old collapsed at her home last Monday. A week of tests had ruled out other possibilities - such as tuberculosis - for her chest problems.
According to the Mayo Clinic, emphysema is “is a progressive lung disease that results in shortness of breath and reduces your capacity for physical activity.” Unfortunately, Winehouse could have been suffering for some time and didn’t experience any symptoms “until irreversible damage” had already occurred.

I’m not sure if this should be considered the grossest thing in some time - or simply the most fitting.
Earlier this week, troubled musicians Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse spent some quality time together. After a concert performance, the Babyshambles member continued his freedom celebration (he had just served 29 days in jail for a probation violation) at Winehouse’s London home. When the party ended, the guest made sure to kiss his hostess goodbye.
While this was not a sight most people should see, it really does make sense. I’m sure these two have far more in common than Pete and Kate Moss ever did. It’s not like the model could ever live without good skin...or showers.

Sarah Jessica Parker Hurt By Unsexy Title

It seems even celebrities don’t like being called names—even when they should be too wealthy to care.
For Sarah Jessica Parker, that hurtful name was “unsexy.” The title was given to her late last year when Maxim spent time listing out their five unsexiest women. SJP was tops.
In an interview with Grazia magazine, the Sex and the City star reveals that she and her husband (Matthew Broderick) were upset by the unflattering honor.
“Do I have big fake boobs, Botox and big lips? No. Do I fit some ideals and standards of some men writing in a men’s magazine? Maybe not. Am I really the unsexiest women in the world? Wow! It’s kind of shocking… It’s condemnation, it’s insane. What can I do? I guess you can’t please all people.”

Amy Winehouse’s Contagious Condition

Although it’s been years since I’ve taken my last marketing class, I do believe this was one of the major rules of thumb:
“If you’d like to launch a new cosmetic line, don’t be seen with a skin condition.”
Just last week, we reported that singer Amy Winehouse was in the process of starting her own clothing and makeup lines. Now I’m wondering if she should just stick the former.
In recent days, the singer has been spotted with some mysterious lumps on her face. After some speculated that she had been in a scuffle, Winehouse’s rep has set the record straight: she has impetigo. What is impetigo? Here is the definition supplied by Dictionary.com:
“A contagious skin disease, esp. of children, usually caused by streptococcal bacteria, marked by a superficial pustular eruption, particularly on the face.”
I think I saw the word ‘pus’ in there.
Despite her contagious state, Amy hasn’t stopped doing what she needs to do. She recently braved the cameras to visit her incarcerated honey, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Here’s a tidbit that almost seems too ridiculous to be true: Amy Winehouse is coming out with her own makeup and clothing lines.
Seriously.
According to The Sun, the singer will soon be speaking to fashion and cosmetic execs about this new financial venture. If wannabes are going to (inexplicably) imitate her, why not make them pay to do it? Possible items linked to Winehouse’s name include hairspray (duh), scarves (to keep the bees in the hive), perfume (to mask the unwashed scent) and eyeliner (double duh).
Products not included? Brushes, shampoo, tattoos, crack pipes and disintegrating ballerina flats.

Lindsay Lohan Hates Being Alone At Night
In an interview appearing in the March issue of Glamour magazine, Lindsay Lohan talks about her party girl image, getting back to work and how she’s trying to rid her life of bad influences.
“There are friends that have been hard to hang out with because they’ve gone done a different path,” the actress, 21, says in her first interview since being in rehab. “But it’s hard because I’m the kind of person who wants to trust everyone.”
Lohan also expresses empathy for Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse and insists that she’s comfortable with her own company--to a point.
“I’m fine being alone during the day, but I hate being alone at night. I like having friends around me, but now I’d much rather be at home,” she says, pointing out that she now suddenly has more hours of the day to fill, which she tries to do by writing in her journal and watching TV.
“That’s not to say I’ll never go to a club again,” she says, “because I’d be lying.”
