Many tuned in this weekend to watch MTV’s VMAs, which rewards popular artists for their innovation in a genre MTV only barely still supports - the music video. But while many artists are trying to find their feet in an ever-changing pop world, is clinging to the traditions of country music.

If her dress, hair style and eye-grabbing cleavage don’t remind you of Dolly Parton, nothing will. Jess strutted onto the Grand Ole Opry stage for her much-anticipated Nashville debut - and today most of the critics are talking much more about her chest and much less about her choice of song.

Jessica Simpson’s New Country Music Single

Realizing she will never have Christina Aguilera’s chops or Britney Spears’ popularity, has decided to try a new route: country music.

According to father/manager Joe Simpson, the album - which is due out in September - is Jessica’s way of getting back to her Texas roots. (I’m sure her ‘coincidental’ relationship with is considered a bonus.)

While I’m admittedly not a Simpson fan, I must admit - this genre may suit her well. Long gone are the breathy vocals, annoying runs and forced sexiness. Plus, she gets some nice backup vocals to support her.


If you like what you’re hearing, you can find Jessica performing ‘Come On Over’ at your local fair sometime this summer.
