Madonna Called Out on Instagram for Using Racial Slur

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Music, Photos

Madonna's son Rocco

Madonna is under fire from many of her fans who follow her Instagram after using the n-word in a recent caption to a post featuring her son, Rocco.

Proud of her 13-year-old son - whom she had with director Guy Ritchie - the singer shared an image of Rocco boxing, writing, "No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn**** [sic]." Rapid outrage in her comments over her use of the racial slur prompted her to repost the image with the revised (and unapologetic) caption, "Ok let me start this again. # get off my d*** haters! [sic]."

Celebrity Chatter: Isla Fisher’s Advice to Julianne Hough, Kim Shows Off Baby North

Allie Teilz and Joaquin Phoenix+ Good celebrity Samaritan Isla Fisher reportedly tried to help Julianne Hough avoid what became her blackface scandal by advising her to wash her face off before the paparazzi got to her. Hough clearly didn't take her up on the advice, and Isla's reps are denying that she attempted to intervene.

+ Her actor Joaquin Phoenix was photographed frolicking around in Rome with a new lady who looks like Madonna straight out of the Eighties. Sadly, he didn't go back in time to bring Eighties Madonna to 2013, as it's been revealed that she's Allie Teilz, a 19 year-old DJ.

+ Want to see cute photos of baby North West posing with Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci? Of course you do, which is why Kim Kardashian has been snapping up a storm over it.

+ Miley Cyrus has come out and proclaimed herself as one of the world's biggest feminists. Though one can't argue that she's definitely a staunch proponent for women expressing their sexuality however they may please, she doesn't seem too keen on abstaining from using other women's (especially black women's) bodies for one's own purposes.

Naomi Campbell Thinks Cadbury is Racist

Naomi Campbell

Move over, Disney. There’s a new mega-corporation getting sued in town. Cadbury, the second-largest confectionary in the world, made the mistake of using Naomi Campbell, indirectly, in an ad campaign. And she’s just not having it.

A new ad featuring their Dairy Milk Bliss Bar has the words “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town” as a tagline. Cute, right? Wrong. According to Campbell, it’s racist.

“I am shocked,” the model overreacted. “It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people as a race. I do not find any humor in this. It’s insulting and hurtful.” She has also stated that she may be pursuing legal action against the company. Possibly she’s being a wee bit dramatic? Follow the jump to see the ad that's causing all the trouble...

VIDEO: Sarah Palin Votes Yes for Donald Trump Investigation

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Legal Issues, Videos

During a recent appearance on Justice with Judge Jeanine (it’s on Fox News), Sarah Palin said that she agrees with Donald Trump and supports his birther investigation. You can hear her comments in the video above.

Trump has publicly attacked President Barack Obama, demanding to see his birth certificate, because evidently he watched a lot of Fox News during the 2008 election. Sarah Palin, whose party lost the election, was quick to take his side. She appreciates “that the Donald wants to spend his resources on something that so interests him and so many Americans.”

Dina Lohan Reacts to Glee Insults

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Child Stars, Rivalries

Dina Lohan, Lindsay LohanGlee has never shied away from controversy. The show took some well-publicized flak for making comments about Lindsay Lohan during Gwyneth Paltrow’s guest-starring stint (“Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?” and “How many times has Lindsay Lohan been to rehab?”) . . . but that doesn’t mean they’re going to pass up new jokes.

Two well-placed (and very funny) jokes aimed at Lindsay’s mom Dina Lohan on Sunday night have managed to get Linds, et al., riled up again. During the much-anticipated scene between Glee guest star Katie Couric and Jane Lynch (playing coach Sue Sylvester), the anchor told Sue that she is the Loser of the Year. Sylvester beat out Dina Lohan, Tiger Woods, the economy and also Dina Lohan’s dog Sparky Lohan, among others, to gain the title.

Dina has fired back with a rant given to E! News. “[Glee] has targeted everyone from gays to lesbians, Asians, disabled and each other . . . several groups are going after the producers, including mothers’ groups.”

She went on to say the “dance numbers are amazing,” but “the writers need to be nice and more creative as opposed to being hurtful.”

Some people just can’t take a joke. But we understand that the Lohans are finding little to laugh about these days (Lindsay is facing potential felony charges, though she’s only recently finished another of her rehab stints), so we’ve got some advice for Dina, Linds and the rest of the family: If you want people to stop cracking jokes about you, stop being ridiculous.

Twain’s Huck Finn the Target of Censorship … Yes, Again

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories:

History really does repeat itself.

Once again, Mark Twain’s masterpiece Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is being censored … and, again, it’s because of some of the offensive words Twain used within the story.

And one in particular. Most are aware, even those who have never read the book, that the character Jim is referred to as the “N-word” Jim throughout the story. The word -- long considered the worst of offensive slurs -- has made the book a frequent target of public burnings, bans and controversy. Many school boards in many states have been asked to remove the book from student curriculum, though the book staunchly remains as required reading in many United States classrooms.

NewSouth Books is, perhaps, attempting to squash all that by simply editing the book. In their version of the story, all instances of the hated word will be removed, along with the word “Injun,” which is used to refer to Native Americans.

Parents React to Glee Magazine Spread

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Photos

UPDATE: You can read Dianna Agron's response to the controversy here.

Two of Glee’s leading ladies, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, struck sexy poses in tiny clothing in the newest issue of GQ, delighting men and angering parents everywhere. The Parents Television Council has seen the photos, and they’re reacting … badly.

In a statement, the Council wanted to clearly denounce “the makes of the TV show Glee for a hyper-sexualized GQ photo shoot that will be featured in the November issue.” The language of that comment is sure to send a flurry of people to the newsstands to get a copy.

VIDEO: Jennifer Aniston Uses the R-Word on TV

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Television, Videos

Although I’ve been known to highlight some of the stupid stupid things Regis Philbin has ever said on air, he (surprisingly) is not the focus of today’s gaffe. Jennifer Aniston is.

On today’s episode of Live with Regis and Kelly, Aniston talked to Philbin (and guest host Kristin Cruz) about her recent photo spread in Harper’s Bazaar. When Regis commented that she got to play “dress up” to channel Barbra Streisand, that’s when the flub came out. “I played dress up,” Jen responded. “I do it for a living, like a retard.” Oops!
