Over the past seven seasons, has had its share of interesting relationships. We’ve seen celebrity/instructor couplings (Sabrina Bryan/Mark Ballas, Mario Lopez/Karina Smirnoff, Shannon Elizabeth/Derek Hough), married pros (Alec Mazo/Edyta Sliwinska, Jonathan Roberts/Anna Trebunskaya), father/son competitors (Corky Ballas/Mark Ballas) and sibling rivalries (Julianne Hough/Derek Hough). But we haven’t yet heard of any romances between the ballroom professionals, at least up until now.

While I’m certain the magazine selected Mario Lopez long before tales of cheating ways were revealed (that’s if you don’t count Ali Landry’s experience), his inclusion just goes to show that any guy with a dimple can come off as charming.

Yesterday, we told you about the rumors concerning former Dancing with the Stars contestant Mario Lopez. According to a former Hooters calendar model, the Saved By the Bell star had been cheating on his girlfriend for almost a whole year. Well, wouldn’t you know it? Hours later, we got a special treat on Monday’s episode of Chelsea Lately: an appearance from !

While she did not go into specifics, the professional dancer bravely addressed the gossip. Unfortunately, instead of using the forum to rail on her slimy ex (like I would have hoped), she did her best to talk calmly and rationally with Chelsea Handler about the breakup. She did, though, appear to validate the cheating report.

Did Mario Lopez Cheat on Karina Smirnoff?

What is that saying about a leopard never changing it spots?

Just two weeks ago we learned about an official breakup between Karina Smirnoff and Mario Lopez. Now we’re getting word about a possible factor in their relationship’s demise. According to a former Hooters calendar model, Lopez had been cheating on his partner for nearly a whole year.

In an interview with E!, Meagan Cooper said that she was led to believe Mario had broken up with his ex. She continued to buy that story despite the fact Karina had left belongings in his home…and despite the fact that he had cheated on his first wife. (Lopez and Doritos Girl Ali Landry were married for less than two weeks back in 2004; she reportedly found out about his alleged infidelities shortly after their nuptials.)

DWTS’ Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas No Longer a Couple

Mark Ballas, Sabrina BryanJust a week after rumors started circulating about Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff, we’re now learning of another Dancing with the Stars split.

Dancer Mark Ballas confirmed to Us Weekly that he and Sabrina Bryan are no longer a couple off the dance floor.  The two started dating last season when they were partnered for the show’s fifth season.

Although the former pair didn’t perform on last night’s results show (maybe things would have been a bit too awkward?), Ballas claims he is still friends with the Cheetah Girl.

So how about Mark’s roommate, Derek Hough?  Will he be able to drag out his relationship with Shannon Elizabeth for that much longer?  I think we’d have better odds of seeing Shannon actually produce some hip action.

Dancing with the Stars Couple Calls It Quits

It seems like someone is now free to pursue another Mario…

After nearly 1 1/2 years together, former partners Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff have called it quits.  The two - who competed together during the fall of 2006 - eventually placed second that season behind Cheryl Burke and Emmitt Smith.

Although the two moved in together last year, the couple have been spending a great deal of time apart recently.  While Karina has been participating on DWTS‘ Season 6, Lopez has been starring in a Broadway revival of A Chorus Line.  He will also conveniently appear on the ABC show’s 100th episode next week.  (I’m sure it was quite awkward backstage during that pre-taped performance.)

Up until recently, Karina and her current have had to fend off rumors about a possible romance.  (They said she already had a boyfriend.)  What will their excuse be now?
