Someone Else Sues Michael Jackson
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues
Michael Jackson has even more legal trouble dead than alive - and that’s really saying something.
It all began when Julien’s Auction House put around 170 items up on the block, a Michael Jackson collection that was bid upon by one Richard Lapointe. The auction, however, was canceled. As a result, Lapointe is suing the Jackson estate and the auction house.
The suit contends that Lapointe was the only bidder on 82 items in the collection, and further mentions that he might have been the highest bidder on 88 more items. Since Julien’s sent confirmation of Lapointe’s bid on these items, he thinks he’s entitled to some money.

Michael Jackson Being Posthumously Sued
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Legal Issues, Rumors
Erie Bonnie is suing Michael Jackson’s estate for a “herpes cure, acne cures and arthritis cures” which Bonnie allegedly invented.
In addition to the theft allegations, Erie also claims that “someone from the Jackson family came by my house and shot a 22 pistol in the air. They turned around in a neighbor’s driveway and drove away.”
Sounds quite…unbelievable.
At any rate, the King of Pop’s estate is being sued for nine copyrights, and even an idea for an automobile insurance policy.
So, wait a minute…there’s a cure for herpes?

Angelina Jolie Fan Sues Children’s Charity
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Legal Issues, Rumors
A disgruntled Angelina Jolie fan has filed suit against the Lili Claire Foundation. The charitable organization provides help to children suffering from medical problems and their families, but they might soon be shelling out money on behalf of the movie star.
The man who filed suit claims he won a meeting with Jolie at an auction, an adventure that cost him a cool thirty grand ($30,000). The only trouble is, he never got to meet the star…and he never got his money back, either.
Now that two years have passed, the fan has decided to take legal action against the charitable foundation. Think they could get Angie to pop over and cool his ire a little?

Jamie Lynn Spears Lookalike Sues LAX
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Rumors
A good celebrity impersonator can make thousands of dollars an hour just for dressing up and acting like the world’s biggest stars. Adessa Eskeridge played Jamie Lynn Spears only once, but hopes to get a staggering seven-figure paycheck for her work.
That’s right: she’s suing LAX (that’s the Los Angeles International Airport) for the cool sum of $2 million. Eskeridge was used by police as a Jamie Lynn decoy in September of 2008, though she claims they did so without her knowledge or consent.
Eskeridge’s lawyer claims that she was “not given any details as to the nature of the task or of the potential danger involved. She simply followed the instructions of the police as most good citizens would do.” He says his client was “deceived and manipulated” by the police, and “suffered and continues to suffer great humiliation” from this event. He says the situation is tantamount to a “false arrest.”
They’re requesting the 2 mill, but Eskeridge’s lawyer made it clear that she’s “willing to consider a reasonable and fair settlement that fully compensates her for the humiliation, fear and harassment.”
So, pay up, LAX, and the problem will magically go away.

John McCain in the Spotlight
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Legal Issues, Rivalries, Breaking News

For a man who seems to shun celebrity, John McCain certainly has been in the media a lot lately - and little of the coverage has to do with his policy or his plans for the country. The republican will now get more attention for a wholly different reason…he’s being sued.
McCain’s political strategy, thus far, has been to undermine presidential competitor Barack Obama by calling him that dirtiest of all words - a celebrity. In the ads, McCain shows clips of Obama with his adoring public while the Jackson Browne hit “Running on Empty” plays in the background. Here’s the problem: McCain never got permission to use the song.

No Love for Courtney
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Legal Issues, Breaking News
Courtney Love, movie star, singer and widow of famous rocker Kurt Cobain, is being sued for failing to provide a percentage of her earnings from Nirvana’s publishing rights.
According to the five-page suit filed against Love, she entered into an oral agreement to pay 5% of her $19.5 million take - $975,000 to be exact.
The firm, London & Co., did not make it clear in the suit when Love sold these rights off. The paperwork could refer to an April 2006 agreement in which Courtney sold 25% of her Nirvana assets to Larry Mestel, a former executive at Virgin Records and founder of Primary Wave Music Publishing. Love’s 25% portion of Nirvana rights, by the way, was larger than the combined assets of Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.
No one from Love’s camp has commented on the suit thus far. When Kurt Cobain died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1994, Love became the heir to 98% of the rights for Nirvana.

Lindsay Lohan: From A-Lister to Fur-Stealer?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Clothing, Legal Issues, Rumors
Child star-turned tabloid queen Lindsay Lohan is making headlines again, though not for any upcoming movie roles. A student at New York college, Masha Markov, is suing the former teen queen for mistreatment of the former’s fur coat. Whether Lohan is accused of borrowing or pilfering the coat isn’t immediately clear.
Markov does have the fur coat (which has an estimated worth of $12,000 according to Markov’s legal counsel) in her possession. However, the lawyer claims Lohan “had the coat for several weeks” and that it now bears a tear in the lining and an unspecified stain. The coat was purportedly a gift from Markov’s grandmother.

J.K. Rowling’s Testimony
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Breaking News
J. K. Rowling, arguably one of the most successful writers ever to walk the Earth, recently took the stand against Steve Vander Ark to argue about Harry Potter, arguably one of the most successful series of books ever penned. A lot of people have made a lot of money off of Harry Potter - including these two. So what could they possibly be arguing about?
Ark signed a deal with RDR Books to publish a reference manual dubbed “The Harry Potter Lexicon,” based on the Web site of the same name. And boy, is Rowling pissed about it. The novelist said she’s had to cease working on her new book due to stress, and that the problems of this lawsuit (and there is one, by the way) have “decimated my creative work over the past month.”

Tyra Banks Threatens to Sue Cancer Survivor
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Television, Style, Charity, Kind Acts, Legal Issues
Tyra Banks worshippers may be a bit shocked this week to discover that their beloved supermodel-turned-entrepreneur may be suing a stage four cervical cancer survivor.
The mother of two, thirty-nine year-old Jodi Hughes, was both thrilled and surprised to find out that her two sons had won her a makeover spot on Tyra’s “Holiday Girl Party!” episode. Not only was the makeover a real letdown consisting of nothing more than a new dress and hair weave, but Hughes claims that producers would not allow her two sons (one of whom is blind) to enter the building, leaving them with no supervision or care while she received her “makeover.”
Furthermore, Hughes had to have the weave surgically removed due to an infection it caused on her scalp; all of the hair she grew completely gone after having undergone chemotherapy for years.
Hughes has asked nothing more from Banks and her team but an apology—she has not requested any monetary compensation for her mistreatment. However, Tyra showed her love towards Hughes when she threatened a lawsuit for violating her gag-order, which prevents her from talking about the show.
Someone told her that she definitely isn’t the next Oprah, right?
