Duchess Catherine hopes she is pregnant with a boy.
The royal is expecting her first child later this year and while handing out symbolic shamrocks to members of the Irish Guards at the annual St. Patrick's Day ceremony on Sunday, Catherine revealed she wants a son while her husband Prince William is hoping for a daughter.
"I asked her do you know if it's a girl or a boy and she said not yet. She said 'I'd like to have a boy and William would like a girl.' I asked her if she had any names and she said no," said Guardsman Lee Wheeler. Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton before her marriage - also told Sergeant Thomas Laven she is prepared for many sleepless nights.
It was recently claimed the couple are expecting a girl, after a well-wisher presented her with a white teddy bear during an official visit to Grimsby, north England and she said, "Thank you, I will take that for my d... for my baby." Sandra Cook, who was standing next to a woman who gave Kate the cuddly toy, said, "As she handed it over I distinctly heard Kate say, 'Thank you, I will take that for my d...' Then she stopped and corrected herself to say, '... for my baby.'"
Whether you're a popstar-turned-reality star or a royal, it seems that keeping mum on your unborn baby's gender is hard to do. Duchess Catherine seems to have spilled the beans on which sex she's expecting during a recent visit to the English town Grimsby.
According to 67 year-old Sandra Cook, Mrs. Prince William - upon receiving a teddy bear from someone in a crowd outside the town's fishing museum - said, "Thank you, I will take that for my d-..."
"I said to her: 'You were going to say daughter, weren't you?'" Cook added. To no one's surprise, Kate tried to save face by claiming that neither she nor William know the sex of the baby and added, "We're not telling."
Unless the duchess slips up in a more prominent manner or decides to announce the gender publicly, it looks like we'll all have to wait until the baby is born in July to find out whether Ms. Cook truly does have a sharp ear!

Britain's Prince William is reportedly studying videos of how to change diapers. The prince and his wife Duchess Catherine are preparing for the arrival for their first child in July, and William is determined to be a hands-on dad.
"He's even been checking out nappy-checking videos on YouTube. His brother Prince Harry thinks it's hysterical and can't stop making fun of him but it's all good spirited," a source said.
William is also keen to interact with his unborn child and tries to make time every day to sing to it. The source added to Now magazine, "He read somewhere it's never too early to start talking to your baby and he's taken the advice to heart even though it's not due until July. Kate thinks it's adorable. He's even been telling their bump some of the old stories his mother Princess Diana used to make up for him and Harry when they were kids. It's become an almost daily ritual for William to chat to her bump and sing a lullaby or song."

The 30-year-old royal - who announced she was expecting her first child with Prince William on Monday - has made a full recovery and left King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, where she was being treated for hyperemesis gravidarum (acute morning sickness), this morning.

Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care and treatment the duchess has received."

The royal spent four days in hospital being closely monitored after experiencing severe nausea over the weekend and was placed on a drip to restore lost nutrients.

"It's hard, but don't stress out. Enjoy your pregnancy and be excited. Enjoy your time at home - or the castle, in her case - with the baby. Especially the first few months," she told New York Daily News.

The mortified Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly terrified she has ruined her reputation and embarrassed her husband after she was completely exposed in a new series of intimate photos.
"Kate is mortified. Since she and William met, she's constantly been on guard against embarrassment. When they used to go away with William's friends, Kate would lecture everyone on what not to do in case there were photographers," a source told OK!.
The 30-year-old future Queen is devastated at the thought of upsetting him and the rest of the royal family and can't stop apologizing since the photos of her sunbathing topless hit newsstands earlier this month. But there could be some good news for Kate as a Danish magazine has denied publishing "bottomless" pictures of the Duchess in recent days.
Britain's Duchess Catherine and Prince William have won an injunction preventing a magazine from publishing further topless pictures of the brunette royal.
Mondadori France, French Closer magazine's publishing company, will be fined $13,000 a day if they publish further topless paparazzi images of Catherine sunbathing or transmit them to a third party via email or any other means, it has been ruled in a French court today. It was also decided that Mondadori - owned by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi - will have to pay $2,600 towards legal fees.
A court in Nanterre, near Paris, opened a separate criminal investigation earlier today over the publication of the images in the magazine after a formal complaint was made on behalf of Catherine and William, who are currently in the final stages of an Asia Pacific tour. The initial investigation will be carried out by BRDP, a branch of the French police. The decision will allow a prosecutor to decide whether or not to proceed with a full investigation into whether Closer magazine and the photographer broke the couple's right to privacy. Separately, the board of a newspaper that published the topless photos will meet today to consider closing the paper, it said.
Britain's Prince William has vowed wife Duchess Catherine will not suffer the same press intrusion as his late mother did.
The Duke of Cambridge was left furious after pictures of his spouse sunbathing topless while holidaying in a private chateau in France were published in French magazine Closer and he now wants to do all he can to protect Catherine's privacy. Those close to him say he doesn't want the duchess - who also goes by her maiden name of Kate Middleton - to be followed by photographers everywhere she goes like Princess Diana was, as he believes the paparazzi contributed to her death in a Paris car crash in 1997.
Vivienne Parry - a close friend of Diana's - told the Daily Mirror newspaper, "He lost his mother to the foreign photographers, he will do absolutely everything in his power to prevent the same thing happening to Kate.
Britain's Prince William has spoken out on his desire to have children.
The royal - who married Duchess Catherine in April 2011 - revealed he and his wife are both keen to start a family but wouldn't comment on when it will be.
"I'm just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I, you know, are looking forward to having a family in the future," he said, speaking on ABC News special The Jubilee Queen With Katie Couric.
However, when asked if he and Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton before her wedding - have plans to start a family soon, he laughed and replied, "You won't get anything out of me. Tight lipped."
William, 29, isn't the only broody royal. His brother Prince Harry revealed he has always wanted children, but just needs to find the right woman.
