Bart Simpson: Scientology Recruiter?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television, Legal Issues
Tonight, Bart Simpson is the subject of controversy…and it was for something he actually didn’t do.
Nancy Cartwright, the woman behind the iconic cartoon character, recently used her talents for something not exactly sanctioned by FOX. In the clip above, the long-time Scientologist lent her voice - and Bart’s - in an automated call used to promote a Scientology event.
“This is not authorized by us,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told the Hollywood Reporter. “The Simpsons does not, and never has, endorsed any religion, philosophy or system of beliefs any more profound than Butterfinger bars.”
It’s not known what actions, if any, the network may take against Cartwright or the organization at this time.

Tom Cruise Talks About Jett Travolta’s Death
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Television
In a pre-taped interview for The View, Tom Cruise talked to the ladies about the death of Jett Travolta. Tom - who is a well-known Scientologist - was quite close with both John and Kelly.
When asked for a comment on the tragedy, the choked up star found it difficult to express his emotions. “I remember Jett when he was born. I saw him when he was a few months old and John just adored him.”
Tom went on to deny any rumors about Scientologists being anti-medication. “That’s not true. It’s actually the opposite. They say, ‘Look get your physical, get your medication.’ Illness is handled. It’s actually the exact opposite.”
That segment with Cruise will air this Friday.

How Does Scientology Deal with Death?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Celebrity Babies

John Travolta, who tragically lost his son recently, is a Scientologist - as are many who orbit the planet called Hollywood. Like any religion, there are special customs to be observed when a member of the faith passes into the great beyond.
...What are they?
At a typical Scientology funeral, the one being honored is directly addressed “as a spiritual being, and is meant to acknowledge the life they lived and their right to move on,” according to Church of Scientology International spokesman Tommy Davis.
Scientology funeral services are generally kept simple and often include readings from the works of science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. But there may or may not be a coffin present, as the body is not the focus for subscribers to the Scientology faith. They believe in thetans, or energy, that is attached to the body. When the body dies, the thetan moves on to a new host. Scientologists do not believe in Heaven or a Nirvana-type place where the departed dwell in eternity, but rather that one’s life-force (thetan) will be recycled again and again.

Tom Cruise Riled by Dr. Drew
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Television, Rumors

Dr. Drew Pinsky, star of Celebrity Rehab and Love Line, has never been afraid to give a diagnosis. Vocal in his opinions but always clinical in his delivery, Drew has charmed many with his obvious caring nature - though it’s often couched in logic.
Even when you’re a celebrated man of medicine, you have to be careful when you talk Tom Cruise. Dr. Drew recently mentioned the actor’s name. Let the media back-and-forth war begin!
This all has stemmed from an interview with Pinsky which appears in Playboy magazine. Dr. Drew made this comment: “A lot of people in the public eye who behave strangely have mental illness we can learn from, and much of it is based on childhood trauma, without a doubt.” He continued: “Take a guy like Tom Cruise. Why would somebody be drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology? To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness, and suggests serious neglect in childhood - maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect.” The tenor of the comments reflects Drew’s usual tone.

Why Cher and Tom Cruise Broke Up

Last night, Cher revealed in a Nightline interview that she once dated a pre-Scientology Tom Cruise.
I have to wonder if her relatively large head had anything to do with relationship’s demise.
Have Demi and Ashton Abandoned Kabbalah?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Rumors
Thanks to Tom Cruise, Scientology has been hogging the religious celebrity limelight lately. But whatever happened to that oh-so-hip practice from a few years back?
Well rumor has it that two of the Kabbalah‘s most high-profile followers may have veered away from its teachings. No not dabblers Britney Spears and Paris Hilton - but rather Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Not only has their service attendance been spotty lately, but Kutcher was apparently seen without the telltale red bracelet. Why? No one seems to know. Maybe they just simply ran out of bleach for the whites?
Whatever the reason, I’m sure Madonna doesn’t care. Now she and Guy Ritchie can keep the Kabbalah spotlight focused on them alone.
