Gordon Ramsay’s Near-Death Experience

Gordon Ramsay‘s ability to perform in high-pressure situations recently came in handy during a shoot in Iceland.

In an interview with The Sun, the popular chef admitted surviving a near-death experience while filming Britain’s The F Word. Gordon had been standing on a cliff in the Westman Islands when his foot slipped and he plunged 280 feet. Despite landing in a creek, the host’s boots prevented him from surfacing immediately. After approximately 45 seconds in the water, the show’s crew threw down a rope to him.

“I’m an extremely good swimmer, but I couldn’t get to the surface. I was panicking and my lungs were filling with water. When I got to the top after getting my boots off I was dazed and my head was totally numb,” said Ramsay.

The 41-year-old, who was later treated for a gash on his leg, was initially hesitant about informing his wife. Now the father of four claims his better half might keep him from filming another show, Dangerous Food for Boys. That’s what he gets for being such a donkey.
